Making Barcoded Price Tags
- Use the inventory program found in "Consignor Login". It's easy to learn and simple to use. Follow the prompts and input your information. You will be able to print 6 tags on a sheet of card stock. Make sure your printer is aligned. This program allows you to keep inventory and see your sales profit.
- Be descriptive with brand, color, designs. Tags fall off and this is the best way we can search for an item that someone wants to purchase, but the tag has fallen off. Try to put the brand name on the first line.
- Okay to describe items as "Brand New," "Hardly Used," "Washed, but Never Worn," "Retails for ...." You want to grab your shoppers attention and help them decide to purchase your item instead of the similar item displayed right next to it. Often it comes down to price, but sometimes it's the packaging that makes it sell.
- All tags are secured in the front right armpit, through the item's tag in the back, or end of the sleeve on the seam of the clothing when the hanger is facing you and the hook is a question mark. Any items that are tagged through the front or back of the garment (and NOT on a seam) will be turned back to the Consignor. This creates a hole in the item, and is deemed damaged.
Clothing : WIRE HANGERS REQUIRED. (We can fit 3x the clothes on wire hangers on our racks than on plastic hangers)
- Select items that are new or like new.
- No worn out, over washed, pilling (you know, the little balls that start to form on overwashed fabrics), smelly, dirty, ripped, stained, missing buttons, broken zippers, faded items.
- Front: hangers make a question mark (?). Please use wire hangers because they will take up less space on the racks, and you can safety pin the clothes onto the hanger so the clothes don't fall off. Our rack space is very limited and wire hangers are a must.
- Be sure to mark your hangers to make it easier to find items when you come to pick up after the sale. Curling ribbon, large stickers folded over, duct tape, yarn, etc. are all great items to use when marking your hangers. Be sure to mark the twisted part of the hanger that is just above the garment.
- Secured in the front right armpit, through the item tag in the back, or end of the sleeve on the seam of the clothing. DO NOT MAKE HOLES IN THE FABRIC. TAG THROUGH A SEAM.
Shoes
- Only select shoes that are like new, with little wear and tear. Clean them thouroughly.
- Tie together with yarn, zip ties, or safety pins.
- Secure tag with safety pin.
Toys
- Put working batteries in all toys. You can get inexpensive batteries at dollar stores. Assemble all toys.
- Extra toy parts: place in clear bag and secure with packing tape.
Books
- Scotch tape the top and bottom of tag on the back of the board book, paper page book, or parenting book.
Linens
- Fold or use hangers, attach all matching pieces with safety pins. If it is in original packaging, you may use it.
Baby/kid equipment
- Multiple pieces: Price tag goes on the main piece. Create additional descriptor tags with “Part 1 of 8” written on it and your consignor number.
- If possible, include instruction manuals (download it from the Internet)
- Secure tags with packing tape. If there is fabric, secure to fabric with safety pin.
- You will need to assemble cribs, pack 'n plays, swings, and other large pieces. They sell best when displayed. Shoppers like to inspect product and make sure it's all there in working order.
